Maggi signed up for Go4Free vouchers having seen the benefits her friends gained from the scheme. She wanted to do something which gave her health benefits and more independence.
“At the beginning I was unsure what to expect – the fear of the unknown – particularly as I’m partially-sighted with a guide dog.
“Being disabled can separate you from majority groups, but this scheme has helped me feel included. I’ve really enjoyed it and I’ve increased my confidence.
“Before getting involved I did no exercise. I now visit the @Worle 50+ group gym sessions three times per week and I’ve started swimming too. I’ve really improved my health with weight loss, improved breathing and social benefits. I’ve got involved with other clubs as a result – I now attend a colouring group.
“My guide dog has lost weight too! It benefits her as she’ll be able to work longer to better my own health"
“It’s a reason to get out of the house and something to look forward to – the scheme has really brought me out of my shell.”
